The Indianapolis Colts were named a team that could “shape the market” at this year’s NFL trade deadline.

Eric Edholm of NFL.com recently put together his list of trade deadline buyers and sellers. Of course, the Colts were among those who Edholm listed as a team looking to make an addition.

“The Colts also have clear needs,” wrote Edholm. “The offense is a top-three unit, yet the defense could use a cornerback or pass rusher, maybe one of each. You don’t get these kinds of chances very often, so the Colts have to be ready to pounce if the right player(s) should be made available.”

A few recent reports have echoed similar sentiments as Edholm, stating that the Colts are a team to watch at the trade deadline and that they are specifically looking to bolster the cornerback and edge rusher positions.

Cornerback continues to be a position for the Colts where the depth is challenged as Indianapolis navigates injuries.

In this most recent game, Mekhi Blackmon was starting on one side, while Johnathan Edwards, an undrafted rookie, and Cameron Mitchell, who was elevated from the practice squad, played on the other side.

At defensive end, the Colts could use more consistent juice opposite of Laiatu Latu.

We recently highlighted what trade assets the Colts have available to them when it comes to making a deal.

The NFL trade deadline is 4:00 PM ET on November 4th. The potential challenge for the Colts when it comes to getting a deal done is that just about every contending team is looking for cornerback and pass-rush help.
