The Seattle Seahawks are currently working to get their rookies from the 2025 NFL draft signed to their contracts. So far, the team has made remarkable progress. On Monday, it was announced eight of their eleven draftees – including top pick Grey Zabel – were signed. Now the number is up to nine, as quarterback Jalen Milroe has put ink to paper.
Seattle’s highest drafted quarterback since 2012 is now officially a Seahawk.
It really is remarkable to think that Milroe has joined Russell Wilson (2012) and Alex McGough (2018) as the only quarterbacks drafted by general manager John Schneider, who has been with the franchise since 2010. However, the lack of quarterbacks drafted has not been for lack of trying. Schneider was interested in both Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen during their respective drafts.

While that obviously looks great now, I wouldn’t put those reports in the “hindsight 2020” category, as no one could have imagined what those two quarterbacks would become today. Back then, Mahomes and (especially) Allen were seen as projects. Uber talented, but raw. In need of serious refinement and development.
Hmmm… that seems to describe Jalen Milroe rather well, doesn’t it? If there is one position the 12th Man should have supreme faith in Schneider with, it’s quarterback.
In other rookie contract related news, the only remaining Seattle draft picks who are currently unsigned are tight end Elijah Arroyo and safety Nick Emmanwori… whose negotiations could be a little more complicated now.
