Morris addressed the media following Sunday’s 34-10 loss to Miami.
For the second time this season, the Atlanta Falcons failed to show up against an inferior opponent. Sunday’s 34-10 loss to the previously 1-6 Miami Dolphins was every bit as bad as the final score indicates. Offensively, the Falcons sputtered all game while the defense had no answers for Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins offense.
Atlanta’s special teams even struggled on Sunday. Head coach Raheem Morris addressed his team’s poor Week 8 performance in his post-game press conference.
“It was bad across the board,” said Morris. “It starts with us and it’s something that we’ve got to fix altogether. And we’ve got to go get those things done this week.”
The Falcons were outplayed in all three phases of the game, and Morris made no excuses for the team’s shortcomings.
“They went out and smashed us today,” added Morris. “They had a beat on what we were doing defensively. They had a beat on what we were doing on special teams.”
The Falcons head coach was asked why things went so wrong against Miami, and he pointed to the team’s inability to run the football.
“It all started right from the beginning — not being able to run the football and control the game,” said Morris. “That’s our lifeline, and when that’s not working, it’s going to look bad on us.”
