No one ruled out today so that means Matt Gay traveled to KC. A good sign. But still will come down to how he feels Monday. So… stay tuned.

Could the Washington Commanders have a new kicker on Monday night against the Kansas City Chiefs?
Kicker Matt Gay popped up on Saturday’s final injury report with a back injury. He did not practice on Saturday, but did participate on Thursday and Friday. The Commanders listed Gay as questionable for Monday’s game.
Gay is 10 of 14 on field-goal attempts this season, and is perfect on his point-after attempts.
Here’s the latest information on Gay’s status ahead of Monday night.
Matt Gay injury update
Gay has not missed any time for the Commanders this season, and it’s unknown when he suffered the back injury. Since he practiced on Thursday and Friday, it would seem as if he suffered the injury on Friday. Head coach Dan Quinn did not mention Gay or his status when he last met with the media on Saturday.
Will Matt Gay play vs. the Chiefs?
Gay was not ruled out, and he did travel with the team to Kansas City, according to ESPN’s John Keim. That’s good news. However, it could also mean that the Commanders are waiting for Gay to go through pre-game warmups before making a decision. Washington does not have another kicker on the practice squad, but could make a move on Monday ahead of the game, allowing someone time to get to Kansas City.
Available free-agent options
There are always veteran kickers available, including some with ties to Washington. Cade York was the kicker for last season’s opener and missed two field goals before being cut. Greg Joseph is an eight-year veteran who spent the offseason with the 49ers. He kicked in one game for Washington last season.
We’ll continue to follow Gay’s status up until kickoff on Monday night.
