New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo has been ruled out for the remainder of the team’s matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday after dislocating his ankle in the second quarter.
Skattebo was carted off the field in an aircast following the injury and was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.
When Skattebo landed awkwardly on an incompletion, the rookie running back put his hand to his head, and teammates immediately called for help. Quarterback Jaxson Dart, a good friend of Skattebo, walked away showing clear emotion at the severity of the gruesome injury. The entire Giants bench quickly emptied to surround the injured Skattebo.

The Philadelphia Eagles crowd gave Skattebo a standing ovation as he was carted off, and Skattebo pointed to the Giants’ sideline as he left the field.
Skattebo totaled 12 yards on three carries and caught a touchdown pass in the first quarter.
How big is this loss?
Skattebo’s injury is a huge loss for the Giants’ vibes and on-field production. The rookie tag team of Dart and Skattebo has brought life to the Giants fan base, with their coming-out party official following a dominant Thursday night football win over the Eagles just two weeks ago. In the postgame celebrations with the Amazon Prime broadcast crew, Skattebo ripped off his shirt, quickly becoming a cult hero in New York. He was a welcome presence at the New York Knicks season opener last week, and it’s not just the crazy, bulldog vibes that Skattebo has brought to the Giants. His play backed it up, and he scored his seventh touchdown of the season earlier on Sunday. — Charlotte Carroll, Giants writer
