GREEN BAY, Wis. — Sunday night’s 35-25 Packers victory in Pittsburgh exorcised some demons.

If there were anyone still resisting the idea that Jordan Love is the right man to take the baton of Packers quarterback, those doubts were resoundingly silenced Sunday night. Love passed for 360 yards. Aaron Rodgers was outperformed and beaten on this night.

During a huge swath of the second half, Love completed 20 consecutive passes. That’s something a Packers quarterback hadn’t done since Brett Favre in 2007.

Love makes Sunday nights a personal showcase of excellence. In five Sunday night starts, he’s now thrown 14 touchdown passes with zero interceptions.

More importantly, the Packers are 5-1-1. Micah Parsons helped the Packers tighten the noose on Rodgers in the second half. With the Rodgers sideshow behind them, the Packers can focus on the important business of winning games.

To have won in Pittsburgh on a Sunday night, with the Rodgers story, is a big deal for the Packers. Maybe we’ll look back and say this was a springboard to something significant. At the very least, this was a step forward after wins over the Cincinnati Bengals and Arizona Cardinals raised more questions than answers.
