The official 2025 NFL schedule will be released on Wednesday, May 14th at 5:00 pm Pacific Daylight Time. But that is not stopping potential leaks from starting to get out there. On Tuesday afternoon, radio host Dave “Softy” Mahler dropped a tantalizing rumor on social media. If Softy is accurate, then the Seattle Seahawks will open the 2025 season at home against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, September 7th.

Should this prove to be the case, it will be the fourth-straight season the Seahawks have kicked off a new campaign at the friendly confines of Lumen Field.

Unfortunately, Lumen has not been as friendly to the Seahawks in recent years, especially when it comes to the 49ers. Seattle has not prevailed at home against San Francisco since December of 2021. The Hawks have suffered three-consecutive home losses to the Niners, all in prime time.

The Seahawks did finally snap their six-game overall losing streak to the 49ers last year, defeating them 20-17 thanks to a last-second touchdown run by Geno Smith to steal an upset victory.

The last time Seattle had their first home game of the season against San Francisco was in Week 2 of the 2017 season when the Seahawks won 12-9.
