The Detroit Lions get back into action in Week 9 after the bye weekend by hosting the Minnesota Vikings at Ford Field on Sunday. Early betting lines have made the Lions a big favorite to bury the last-place Vikings.
Detroit opened as 8.5-point favorites over the Vikings at BetMGM on Monday morning. The moneyline bet of -500 for the Lions is a very strong indication that Dan Campbell’s team is expected to emerge victorious.
Minnesota enters the Week 9 matchup having lost two games in a row after its bye in Week 6. The 3-4 Vikings are expected to make a quarterback change as well, bringing in J.J. McCarthy now that he’s healthy enough to play and benching Carson Wentz. Injuries to the Vikings offensive line and missing pass rusher Andrew Van Ginkel have been real problems for Minnesota of late.
The Lions have won the last five meetings with Minnesota, scoring at least 30 points in all five wins.
