GREEN BAY (WLUK) — On the first day of the NFL Draft, the number of fans in attendance surpassed the population of Green Bay itself.

Overall, Green Bay area public safety officers say day one went really well and they encourage the community to keep coming for days two and three.

Green Bay police chief Chris Davis said they had just three ejections and one arrest from the NFL Draft campus; all were minor offenses.

“Even for a Packer game, those would be pretty low numbers,” he said. “I think people were great yesterday, they had a great time without getting out of hand.”

Fire officials say they had eight EMS calls in the campus.

Chief Davis also issued a warning to those flying drones over Lambeau Field.

“We certainly understand, you want to get that great footage but that takes up a lot of our resources to deal with that when that happens and we ask that people comply with the flight restriction over the footprint here for the rest of the event.”

The league reported 205,000 people watched the first picks of the draft on stage.

About an hour before selections began, the NFL Draft campus around Lambeau Field reached capacity, seating some fans in the bowl and others on the outside looking in.

Officials encourage fans to come early if they want a good view of the theater. If they reach capacity again, they will move fans into the bowl of Lambeau Field.

They’re also expecting a record Saturday with a surge Saturday night for the Brad Paisley concert.

To curb drunk driving, the Brown County Tavern League is offering free shuttle rides from participating establishments to homes, hotels and rentals throughout the county during the NFL Draft. On Thursday, the organization reported it gave 3,151 rides.

Theater capacity has been reached in past drafts. It happened in Detroit last year and the year before in Kansas City.
