New York Jets are no longer looking for their first win under the watch of head coach Aaron Glenn following the conclusion of Week 8.
The Jets (1-7) visited the Cincinnati Bengals (3-5) and did it at Paycor Stadium. Despite plenty of back-and-forth play, the Green and White finally took home a win in 39-38 fashion.

What went right?

The Jets finally got contributions from quarterback Justin Fields and that coincided with running back Breece Hall’s best game of the season. Fields was 21-for-32 passing for 244 yards and a touchdown. The QB had 31 rushing yards as well.
Hall was electric with 133 rushing yards and three total touchdowns. Of those, one was a surprise passing score which ended up being the game-winner.
Above it all, what went the most right, was the way head coach Aaron Glenn got his team motivated to play in a manner that honored the late Nick Mangold following his passing. You could tell there was an extra motivation there.

For all the surprising successes the Jets offense had? The defense still allowed 38 points. That’s more than New York allowed in their past two games combined (26). There should be hope that the return of cornerback Sauce Gardner and not facing such elite playmakers like the Bengals have without him, will help the Jets.
What’s the bottom line?

This very well could be the only win the Jets have in 2025. Hopefully not. After this win, another does feel more likely and not just because of the obvious. Rather, the pressure for Glenn to get his first is now off. Could this team start playing a bit more free?
