The New York Jets woke up Sunday with a road game to play against Joe Flacco and the Cincinnati Bengals and wound up hearing unexpected news as legendary former player Nick Mangold died due to complications of kidney disease.
News of the Jets franchise’s fallen legend was met with an outpouring of support from the across the NFL and college football worlds as Jets fans and others attempted to make sense of the 41-year-old, seven-time Pro Bowler’s death.
One of the them was Darrelle Revis, the Jets icon nicknamed ‘Revis Island’ for his lockdown cover corner skills during his time with the team.
Revis took to his X account to share a heartfelt, loving message as he remembered his former teammate.

Revis’ Loving Message to Mangold
Revis shared a post that was seen over 241,000 times as of Sunday afternoon.
He called himself “fortunate” to have the opportunity to lace up his sneakers with Mangold every Sunday and said he will miss him and forever cherish the time they shared together in the locker room.
“Love you buddy. Rest in paradise, Nick,” Revis added.

Mangold’s Career Spanned Eleven Seasons
Mangold played eleven seasons with the Jets after he was drafted in the first round (29th overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft out of Ohio State University.
A native of Centerville, Ohio, Mangold was known for his fun loving personality on and off the field and toughness in the trenches.
Mangold started in all 164 games that he played with the franchise and was known as a crushing run blocker and strong pass blocker.
Mangold received AP First-Team All-Pro honors two times and AP Second-Team All-Pro honors one time.
Jets owner Woody Johnson also shared his thoughts after Mangold’s tragic passing.
“He was the heartbeat of our offensive line for a decade and a beloved teammate whose leadership and toughness defined an era of Jets football,” Johnson said.
“Off the field, Nick’s wit, warmth, and unwavering loyalty made him a cherished member of our extended Jets family.”
