Detroit Lions back after bye week, will face division rival Minnesota Vikings

  • October 28, 2025

The Lions return this Sunday, Nov. 2 and it’s looking like they will face a quarterback Michiganders are already familiar with: JJ McCarthy, former University of Michigan quarterback. He was selected 10th overall by the Vikings in the 2024 draft.

He started the season with a 1-1 record before passing the baton to Carson Wentz for the past five games. It was announced that Wentz will undergo season-ending surgery, so McCarthy is back in the starting role hoping to snap the Vikings’ two-game losing streak.

The Lions are coming off a bye week and hoping to improve moving forward according to head coach Dan Campbell. “I really believe we haven’t played our best ball yet collectively,” Campbell said, “We need to start playing complete ball across the board and keep improving.”

He mentioned converting on third downs as “the most glaring thing” the Lions need to improve upon as a unit and will be the focus moving forward.

Regarding injuries, Campbell said Cornerback Terrion Arnold feels good and is expected to practice this week along with Safety Daniel Thomas and Linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez.

Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM ET this Sunday, Nov. 2, and the game will be on Fox Sports.
