The Giants may soon have a new receiver.
On Tuesday, Fox Sports reported that wide receiver Gabe Davis has a free agent visit scheduled with Big Blue this week. The 26-year-old veteran, who visited the 49ers on Monday, was released by the Jaguars last week.
Giants coach Brian Daboll was Davis’ offensive coordinator during his first two seasons in Buffalo. Giants general manager Joe Schoen was the assistant GM under Brandon Beane.
Davis, lauded as a playoff hero due to his 474 career postseason yards — even earning the nickname “Big Game Gabe” — was a fourth-round pick by the Bills in 2020. He spent his first four seasons there, making 163 catches with 2,730 yards and 27 touchdowns in Buffalo.
Jacksonville signed him in free agency last year, but Davis disappointed, catching just 20 passes for 239 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games before suffering a meniscus injury in his left knee.
Jacksonville released Davis with a failed physical designation.
The Giants, who went an embarrassing 3-14 last season, need any help they can get on offense. They’re hoping that their new quarterback room and revamped defense can help bring them back to relevance in 2025.
Let’s see if Davis, who would be the No. 4 wide receiver on the depth chart, will be part of that.
