Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels missed his third game this season in Monday night’s 28-7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Daniels suffered a hamstring injury in the Week 7 loss at Dallas: Daniels missed Weeks 3 and 4 with a knee sprain.

Now 3-5, the Commanders are way down in the NFC pecking order. Injuries have ravaged the roster, and there appears to be little to no hope of the defense turning things around. However, as we learned last season, as long as the Commanders have Daniels, they have a chance.

While ESPN’s Adam Schefter hinted at Daniels missing the Week 9 game against the Seattle Seahawks, head coach Dan Quinn indicated on Tuesday that he expects Daniels to return to practice on Wednesday.

“Yeah, of course, we have a plan,” Quinn said. “So yeah, like had a good rehab session on, days are screwed up, on Sunday. Teams back out at practice tomorrow, and we plan on him being a part of that.”

While Daniels may return to the practice field on Wednesday, that doesn’t mean he’ll play next week. Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson has dealt with a nagging hamstring injury that has cost him three games. Jackson is expected to play in Week 9.

Hamstring injuries can be slow to heal. If a player returns too soon, he risks further injury. Washington has proven it will take the safe route with Daniels. But if he’s healthy and cleared, he will play. Something else to watch this week is the status of five-time Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil. Tunsil injured his hamstring on Monday night and was unable to finish the game. It’s almost certain that Tunsil will miss some time.

Do the Commanders want Daniels back on the field without Tunsil?
