Week 8 of the NFL season featured another round of standout performances from former Georgia players. From record-setting rushing efforts to dominant defensive outings, Bulldog alumni continued to make their mark across the league.

James Cook, Buffalo Bills

Former Bulldog running back James Cook put together the most productive game of his NFL career in Buffalo’s 40-9 win over Carolina. Cook rushed 19 times for 216 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 11.6 yards per carry. His 64-yard touchdown run in the second quarter ended with a front flip into the end zone, adding to his highlight-filled day.

It was Cook’s first 200-yard rushing performance, making him just the fourth player in NFL history to rush for at least 215 yards and two touchdowns on fewer than 20 carries. Through eight weeks, Cook ranks second in the NFL in rushing yards (753), fourth in rushing touchdowns (seven) and first in yards per carry among players with 100 or more attempts (6.0).

Kamari Lassiter, Houston Texans

Lassiter continued his impressive start to the season in Houston’s 26-15 win over San Francisco. Lassiter recorded seven tackles, one tackle for loss and his second interception of the season. The pick came at an opportune time, as the 49ers had just marched 70 yards down the field and looked poised to make it a one-score game before Lassiter took it away. The second-year cornerback has been a major factor on a Texans defense that ranks among the league’s best in turnover differential.

Ladd McConkey, Los Angeles Chargers

The former Georgia wide receiver had a strong outing in the Chargers’ 37-10 Thursday night win over Minnesota. McConkey hauled in six receptions for 88 yards and a touchdown. He has scored in three of the last four games. McConkey’s speed and crisp route-running continue to help Los Angeles win games as he embraces his role as quarterback Justin Herbert’s go-to target.

Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis, Philadelphia Eagles

Former Bulldog defensive linemen Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis powered the Eagles’ defensive front in a 38-20 win over the Giants. Both linemen finished with two tackles and a sack, setting the tone in the trenches. Carter’s burst and Davis’ power helped Philadelphia hold New York’s offense to just 68 rushing yards. The duo continues to anchor one of the NFL’s toughest and most aggressive defensive lines.

Roquan Smith, Baltimore Ravens

Former Georgia linebacker Roquan Smith was once again the leader of Baltimore’s defense in the Ravens’ 30-16 win over Chicago. Smith tallied a game-high 12 tackles, helping Baltimore secure a much-needed win in what has been an underwhelming and injury-riddled start to its season.

Other notable performances:

Packers safety Javon Bullard recorded six tackles and a fumble recovery in Green Bay’s 35-25 win over Pittsburgh. Cowboys receiver George Pickens caught seven passes for 78 yards in Dallas’ 44-24 loss to Denver. The former Bulldog receiver ranks third in the NFL with 685 receiving yards.
