The rookie running back suffered the injury with 8:07 left in the second quarter of Sunday’s game against the Eagles in Philadelphia. He was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation and ultimately surgery.

Beforehand, the rookie had three carries for 12 yards and one catch that he took 18 yards for a touchdown.

“I was devastated,” said quarterback Jaxson Dart, his 2025 draft classmate. “It’s my boy, man, so seeing him go down and obviously reacting to what happened, that sucks. It’s the worst part of this game.”

Skattebo, a fourth-round pick from Arizona State, entered Week 8 leading all NFL rookies in yards from scrimmage and touchdowns.

But it is his style that has captivated the sports world, just like his quarterback.

“Certainly, they’re close,” Daboll said of Skattebo and Dart. “I think, again, you’re close with a lot of guys on the football team. Coaches are close with the players. Players are close with the players. And when you have injuries, which there’s a lot of them. I was chatting back and forth with Skatt last night. For a guy that has come in and, say, sparked us with a lot of energy and toughness, but the personality that he has as well. But it’s like all your other players that you’re close with. These guys spend a lot of time together, meeting time, outside the building. And that’s always a tough element to this game is when guys go down and get hurt. You hate to see it. Unfortunately, it’s part of the business.”

Daboll added: “He’s just got an infectious personality. It was at 4:08 this morning I got a text from him. You know, so that’s Skatt.”
