The Green Bay Packers released the team’s first injury report of Week 9 on Wednesday. The team will release two more injury reports, including a final injury report on Friday with official playing status designations, before facing the Carolina Panthers in Week 9 of the 2025 season on Sunday at Lambeau Field.
Here’s everything to know from the Packers‘ first injury report:
Participation reportDid not practice: LB Nick Niemann (pectoral), DE Lukas Van Ness (foot), WR Dontayvion Wicks (calf)Limited participation: G Aaron Banks (shin), RB Josh Jacobs (calf), OL Zach Tom (back), WR Christian Watson (knee), DL Devonte Wyatt (knee)Big things to know
— The Packers listed only nine players on the first injury report. The list is shrinking after having double digit number of players each of the last three weeks.
— Van Ness didn’t practice, but Matt LaFleur labeled him as “day to day” moving forward, suggesting he could have a chance to practice at some point this week. He’s missed two straight games.
— The new injuries are to Banks, who was limited with a shin injury, and Niemann, who left Sunday night’s win with a pectoral injury. The Packers are concerned with Niemann’s injury. A tear in his pectoral could be season-ending.
— The Packers removed the following players from the injury report who were listed in some capacity last week: OT Anthony Belton, DL Warren Brinson, WR Matthew Golden, CB Nate Hobbs, S Xavier McKinney, OL Jordan Morgan, LB Quay Walker and S Evan Williams. All but Brinson were available to play last week.
— Kicker Brandon McManus is still limited with a right quad injury, and Lucas Havrisik remains on the 53-man roster. The kicking situation is one to watch again this week. LaFleur said McManus would kick on Wednesday.
— Running back Josh Jacobs was also still limited. Coach Matt LaFleur said he got through Sunday night fine, but Jacobs split snaps with Emanuel Wilson.
— The Panthers had 12 players on their first injury report, and seven players didn’t practice on Wednesday, including backup quarterback Andy Dalton (right thumb) and three starting offensive linemen. The big news was the return of starting quarterback Bryce Young, who was a full participant after missing last week’s loss with an ankle injury. But who will be available to block for him? Right tackle Taylor Moton, right guard Brady Christensen and center Cade Mays all missed practice on Wednesday. The Panthers also were without safety Nick Scott, linebacker Trevin Wallace and rookie rusher Princely Umanmielen.
