The injuries just keep piling up for the Washington Commanders. In Monday’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, three Commanders‘ starters left the game and did not return: wide receiver Terry McLaurin, defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw and left tackle Laremy Tunsil.

On Wednesday, head coach Dan Quinn ruled out McLaurin for Sunday. The star wide receiver reaggravated a quad injury that cost him four games before his return on Monday. However, in some positive news, Kinlaw participated fully in Wednesday’s practice and appears to be a full-go for Week 9 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Tunsil’s situation remains a bit of a mystery. He injured his hamstring on Washington’s first drive on Monday, left the game for about 15 plays, and returned. Unfortunately, Tunsil couldn’t finish the game and did not return in the second half.

What did Quinn say about Tunsil?

“LT and [K] Matt Gay, we’ll hold both of them today, and we’ll give them every chance,” Quinn said. “And I think I’ll have a really good sense by Friday on both, but we’ll give them every shot to go do that. I’ll just give you a better sense of that Friday.”

There’s good and bad news here. While Tunsil did not practice on Wednesday, Quinn said the team will give it to Friday, which means there’s at least a chance he can go on Sunday. Tunsil doesn’t miss much time, aside from the 2021 season, when he missed 12 games after undergoing thumb surgery. If he can play, he will be on the field.

But as we know, hamstring injuries are notoriously tricky. Without knowing the grade or severity of Tunsil’s hamstring injury, it’s difficult to project his status for Week 9. Quinn is not about to give those details, like most other coaches.

Brandon Coleman replaced Tunsil at left tackle on Monday against the Chiefs. He started at left tackle for the Commanders last season as a rookie before moving to left guard this season. He was benched in Week 3 for Chris Paul and was inactive on gamedays for several weeks. Coleman could again prove his value, filling in for Tunsil if he misses significant time with this injury. The Commanders also have veterans George Fant and Trent Scott, who could fill in for Tunsil.
