The Chicago Bears are looking to get back in the win column this Sunday, when they take on the Cincinnati Bengals, as both teams are coming off very poor losses.
Last week, the Bears fell to a different AFC North team, the Baltimore Ravens, who were led by backup quarterback Tyler Hunter. Meanwhile, the Bengals gave the New York Jets their first win of the season.
Cincinnati has been a team that has always been loaded with offensive firepower while their defense has come with plenty of question marks across the board. The Bengals biggest superstars are their wide receivers, in Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, the former who grabbed the NFL’s receiving Triple Crown last season.
In this week’s edition of “Gimme Him,” we’re taking a player who may not be a big positional need for Chicago but he’s one of the game’s best players, and any opportunity to grab him becomes a must. Of course, we’re talking about wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase.
In the previous two seasons, Chase played in 33 regular season games and combined for 227 receptions, 2,924 yards, and 24 touchdowns, 17 of which came last season. The chemistry between Chase and quarterback Joe Burrow is second to none across the NFL. But even as he commands all the attention from opposing defenses, he’s a consistent source of production.
If Chicago needed to swap out one receiver out of their position group, sending veteran DJ Moore to complement Tee Higgins in Cincinnati would be the choice there. Chase could not only lead by example in his play but serve as a great mentor for Rome Odunze, Luther Burden III, and, the most important player of the offense, quarterback Caleb Williams.
The Bengals have no shortage of offensive talent, and when it comes to a player that could take the franchise to the next level, there’s no better option than Ja’Marr Chase.
