The New York Jets will not be on the field in Week 9 but the work will not stop.
The Jets (1-7) have their 2025 bye this upcoming weekend. We won’t see the team putting in work during a game, but make no mistake, a lot still is being looked at behind closed doors.
Such as?
Here are four questions the Jets must answer during the bye:
Who (else) could be traded?
General manager Darren Mougey has been active plenty on the trade front during his first season in New York. Most recently, he traded cornerback Michael Carter II to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Considering the Jets are 1-7 and not making the playoffs, that’s likely just the start. What’s next?
Can the defense be consistent?
Overall, the Jets defense has been poor in 2025. The unit did have back-to-back outstanding efforts by holding opponents to just 13 points.
And while the Green and White got their first win last week, it was a 39-38 score. That’s a lot of points to let up.
What’s happening at QB?
Head coach Aaron Glenn has not commit to a starting quarterback after the bye. After Fields had a huge game, could Glenn… actually bench Fields again? It seems unlikely, but we’ll wait and see.
Playing time
Considering any playoff chances are gone, at what point do the Jets decide to get a look at some younger and depth players as they build toward the future? It could be that time… pretty soon.
