The Tennessee Titans dove into the waiver wire to add a young offensive lineman to the roster on Thursday when they claimed guard Drew Moss off waivers from the San Francisco 49ers.

In a corresponding move, the Titans placed veteran guard Blake Hance on injured reserve. Hance has had a rough season after joining Tennessee to be their primary backup along the interior. He did start one game in place of injured Kevin Zeitler, but injured his shoulder and has been out of action ever since.

Moss had a promising start to the season and showed guard/center versatility for the 49ers, who waived the rookie lineman to make way for the return of some injured veterans.

An undrafted rookie free agent out of Colorado State, Moss came into the league as an experienced prospect, starting all 47 games he played in college at Lamar and Colorado State. The 6-foot-3, 303-pound offensive lineman won a job during the preseason and started the season on the 49ers’ 53-man roster.

Moss should be available for the Titans when they take on the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, but will likely be inactive.Â
