What’s going on with the Buffalo Bills’ passing attack? It’s a question many have been asking this season as quarterback Josh Allen has failed to consistently connect with his receivers downfield.
Khalil Shakir leads all Bills receivers in yardage, followed by tight end Dalton Kincaid.
Outside of Shakir, the other five boundary wide receivers are averaging just 81.5 yards per game together since the Week 1 win over Baltimore.
It’s had people talking about the Bills trading for another wide receiver, like they did last year with Amari Cooper.
Is it something they can fix with the players they have?
“I’m very confident,” said Allen. “I’m very confident in the players that we’ve got. I’m very confident in myself. Obviously it starts with me. You know, I’ve got to be better when we have those opportunities.”
Keon Coleman has taken his fair share of criticism this season — including some harsh words from former NFL receiver Steve Smith on a podcast this week. Coleman offered no comment on that topic, but says he’s just playing through the ups-and-downs of the season.
“It depends on week-to-week basis, depending on what the run game does,” said Coleman. “We’ve got guys like James Cook back there taking 200 yards, I mean, you don’t really throw the ball at that point, but, just go like that. It might be games like Baltimore where I get off, other games like last week where Khalil gets the yards. It’s just that’s how it flows. It’s football.”
#Bills WR Keon Coleman was asked about recent criticism from former NFL WR Steve Smith, as well as the team’s struggles in the passing game.
He offered “no comment” on Smith’s words, and discussed his role and the overall passing attack.

While the Bills’ passing game has been below the typical standard, the team is leading the league in rushing yards by a wide margin behind Cook. But finding a better balance could go a long way toward the Bills reaching their goals this season.
