Sheesh. Velus Jones Jr.’s teamup with former New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak on the Seattle Seahawks didn’t last long. The Seattle Times’ Bob Condotta reports that Jones was released from the Seahawks practice squad on Thursday, Oct. 30, just one day after he was officially signed on Wednesday, Oct. 29. In his place, Seattle brought in running back Myles Gaskin, who previously spent time with them.

It’s a tough break for Jones, having only gotten one practice session in with his new team, but that’s life on the fringe of an NFL roster. There have been times earlier in his career when he was signed, let go, and re-signed, but that doesn’t appear to be in the cards for him right now. The former Chicago Bears third-round draft pick will have to hit the tryouts circuit and see what opportunities are out there. Maybe he ends up back in New Orleans, but the Saints may have moved on by signing backups Audric Estime and Evan Hull to their own practice squad.
