Prepare yourselves, Steelers fans — the NFL trade deadline is just days away, and the Steel City brand of football has been linked to a talented interior offensive lineman: Las Vegas Raiders‘ Jackson Powers-Johnson.
On Thursday, PFF’s Josh Liskiewitz named the Steelers as a potential landing spot for Powers-Johnson — pointing to his supposed benching in Week 7, as well as recent injuries to Pittsburgh’s LG Isaac Seumalo and C Zach Frazier, as support for the trade fit.
“The Raiders could be a logical trade partner,” Liskiewitz wrote. “The previous regime spent a 2024 second-round pick on interior lineman Jackson Powers-Johnson, but he appeared to be benched during Las Vegas’ Week 7 matchup against the Chiefs. While primarily a center at Oregon, Powers-Johnson has already logged more than 300 snaps at each of the interior positions during his time as a pro.”
It’s no secret that Powers-Johnson hasn’t meshed well with Raiders HC Pete Carroll, given his desire to play center over guard — which was denied — and his benching in Week 7, which many argue wasn’t warranted.
It remains to be seen if Las Vegas would cut ties with Powers-Johnson, especially given his two remaining years on his rookie deal. But should he be available at the trade deadline, Pittsburgh needs to make the Raiders an offer they can’t refuse — creating one of the best interior offensive lines in the process.
