The last time the Denver Broncos faced the Houston Texans, they lost 22-17 in 2023.

Alex Singleton undoubtedly remembers the loss well.

In the first quarter of that game, the Texans would have faced 4th-and-7 and presumably would have settled for a field goal if not for Singleton’s penalty against quarterback C.J. Stroud that gifted them a first down. Instead, Houston went on to score a touchdown, a four-point swing that proved to be costly in a five-point loss.

After the play was blown dead for a pre-snap penalty, Singleton continued his path to Stroud and pushed the retreating quarterback in the back. Stroud then headbutted Singleton and the linebacker drew a flag after pushing the quarterback:

Two years later, the Broncos are 6-2 and first in the AFC West while the Texans are 3-4 and fighting to get back into the AFC playoff race. Sunday will be an important conference game for both clubs, and Singleton will want to make up for 2023’s blunder.
