Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor found himself addressing yet another trade request during Friday’s press conference ahead of the Week 9 game against the Chicago Bears.

There, the topic of conversation was McKinnley Jackson, who requested a trade ahead of Tuesday’s deadline.

Taylor kept it as coachspeak as possible.

“Just keep working. I like McKinnley,” Taylor said, according to Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19. “There will be opportunity in that room as we keep going with Mike Pennel leaving. Just keep putting your head down, working and earning those opportunities. We’ve had good conversations.”

Jackson, a third-round pick by the Bengals in 2024, has largely sat on the inactives list this season despite once being viewed as a possible one-two punch with 2024 second-rounder Kris Jenkins.

The trade request from Jackson notably comes after a “players-only meeting” this week and the team granting Mike Pennel’s release request. The latter point suggested Jackson wasn’t going to be active in Week 9 despite the depth chart thinning, though the team is keeping the reasons private.
