Jaguars’ safety Eric Murray was placed on injured reserve on Friday.
The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without a key defender for at least the next four games.
On Friday, the Jaguars officially placed safety Eric Murray on injured reserve.
Murray will be eligible to return in Week 13 when the Jaguars take on the Tennessee Titans.
Murray suffered a neck injury in the Jaguars’ Week 7 game against the LA Rams prior to the bye. However, before that game, Murray had been on the injury report previously with a neck injury.
In seven games this season, Murray has recorded four quarterback pressures, while making 34 total tackles, along with logging three pass breakups and an interception, according to PFF.
Liam Coen did say that a point of emphasis during the bye week was on limited explosive plays, and the safety position plays a key role in accomplishing that.
Without Murray, Antonio Johnson will presumably get the start next to Andrew Wingard.
Under defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile, the Jaguars also utilize three safety looks relatively often, which could lead to additional playing time on defense for rookie Rayuan Lane.
Khalef Hailassie could also be active in this game for the first time this season to provide added depth at the safety position without Murray.
Along with not having Murray, Travis Hunter has also been placed on injured reserve, impacting the team’s depth at the cornerback position.
