Washington Commanders rookie running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt was the talk of fantasy football through five weeks. The seventh-round pick from Arizona was averaging over six yards per attempt and had ripped off multiple runs of 10 yards or more. Croskey-Merritt had won the NFL Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Week award twice.
However, over the past three games, Washington’s running game struggled. Over those three games, Croskey-Merritt has rushed for 61, 33, and 25 yards, respectively. He’s averaged just under three yards per attempt.
This Sunday, the Commanders face the Seattle Seahawks, who rank No. 1 in the NFL in run defense.
On Friday, Croskey-Merritt met with the to discuss Sunday’s game. He was in costume. Croskey-Merritt was dressed as Superman. It was a Halloween costume, and it wasn’t necessarily his choice. Washington’s veterans made the rookies do it, so he chose Superman.
The Commanders need Croskey-Merritt to be Superman against a terrific Seattle defense. The good news is Washington gets its Superman back, as quarterback Jayden Daniels returns after missing last week’s game with a hamstring injury. The Commanders are looking to snap a three-game losing streak against the NFC West-leading Seahawks.
