The Houston Texans are preparing to get back to .500 with a potential win over the Denver Broncos in Week 9. Houston is coming off their best game of the season at home behind a 300-yard passing performance from Pro Bowl quarterback C.J. Stroud.
In their first practice back on the field, Houston gained a pair of pass-catchers who could be in line for a big day against Denver’s weakened secondary with no All-Pro cornerback Patrick Surtain II. Receivers Nico Collins and Christian Kirk returned to practice, but tight end Dalton Schultz missed drills due to injury.

Kirk, Houston’s top slot receiver, missed the past two games with a hamstring injury. Collins suffered a concussion early in the fourth quarter of Houston’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Oct. 20 and did not practice at all last week ahead of Sunday’s 26-15 win over the San Francisco 49ers.
“If Nico and Kirk clears, we’re hoping that looks great for us. We got two of our top playmakers back out on the field. Anytime we can get those guys out, they add an explosive element to our offense, playmaker element to our offense,” Ryans said. “Those guys have done it for a long time. We’re excited to be able to get those guys back. We’re hoping the week goes as good as it can go so we can get them back.”
Running back Woody Marks, who appeared on the injury report Thursday, was full-go Friday for walkthroughs and is expected to play with little to no issue. Schultz, the Texans‘ lone receiving tight end, was listed as questionable after only returning to practice in a limited capacity on Friday morning.
