Less than a handful of days out from the NFL‘s trade deadline, one NFC South team could reportedly be looking to unload some talent as it begins punting on the regular season.
With a bunch of contenders looking for offensive help, the New Orleans Saints certainly have some pass-catchers to spare. And sitting at 1-7 at the halfway mark of the season, it’s clear that the franchise isn’t going anywhere in 2025.

The Saints have showed fight over the first eight weeks, however it hasn’t been enough to stack any wins outside of Oct. 5’s game vs. the New York Giants. Now the team is reportedly open to trading away its second-leading receiver prior to Tuesday afternoon.

Rashid Shaheed trade firmly ‘in play’
According to NBC’s ProFootballTalk, Saints wideout and All-Pro/Pro Bowl returner Rahid Shaheed is “widely believed” to be available.
Through the first eight games of the season, Shaheed has racked up 39 catches for 431 yards and two touchdowns — putting him on pace to set career marks when it comes to his receiving totals.

“The current chatter is that the Saints are looking for a third-round pick for the 2022 undrafted free agent, who also can serve as a return specialist,” Mike Florio reported.
Noting, “Injuries elsewhere could increase the willingness of other teams to meet the Saints’ perceived price. Either way, the Saints can wait until Tuesday afternoon and take the best offer.”
Teams linked to a potential Shaheed trade
When it comes to the organizations that could be looking to land Shaheed on their 2025 rosters, the Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, Denver Broncos, Pittsburgh Steelers and Seattle Seahawks have all emerged as possible trade targets.

Shaheed is owed $4.25 million in base salary after signing a one-year, $5.2 million extension back in July. Meaning a new team would only have to pay him roughly $2.125 million in order to have his services for the rest of the year.
The 27-year-old would bring plenty of speed to wherever his new landing spot would be. But for now he’s dealing with a hip injury that may hold him out of Sunday’s game against the LA Rams.
