The Pittsburgh Steelers may have received their juiciest trade deadline news yet — as a new report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport claims Miami Dolphins star WR Jaylen Waddle is now available for trade following the firing of GM Chris Grier.
According to Rapoport, general managers from around the league felt that Grier wasn’t interested in “engaging” in trade discussions over a few key Dolphins players — but the new regime in Miami is “far more open to deals.”
“While previously a question about wide receiver Jaylen Waddle was met with a hard ‘no,’ the team will now do its due diligence and at least consider offers for the star in his prime, sources say,” Rapoport wrote. “Miami still would prefer to not trade Waddle, but the Dolphins are at least willing to weigh an offer that blows them away.”
Selected with the sixth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Waddle quickly cemented himself as a game-changer on Miami’s offense — producing three straight 1,000-yard seasons to start his career.
While the Dolphins’ preference is to keep Waddle on the roster, Steelers GM Omar Khan has worked his magic in the past — potentially offering Miami a deal they can’t refuse for one of the league’s top wideouts.
