The Washington Commanders (3-5) host the Seattle Seahawks (5-2) in the Week 9 edition of Sunday Night Football. Washington looks to snap a three-game skid, but stopping Seahawks star receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba is a tall task. However, Seattle could be without another of its top offensive weapons, as wide receiver Cooper Kupp, questionable with heel and hamstring injuries, is not expected to play, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Kupp, the 32-year-old, 9-year veteran, is second on the Seahawks with 24 receptions and 293 receiving yards. He has also caught one touchdown. A former NFL Offensive Player of the Year and Super Bowl MVP, Kupp is in his first season with the Seahawks after he spent his first eight years with the Los Angeles Rams. Kupp, a native of Yakima, Washington, signed a three-year deal with his home-state Seahawks in March.
If Kupp is indeed out for Sunday, he would join five other Seahawks who were listed as out on the final injury report.
The player to watch in Kupp’s absence could be rookie Tory Horton. The 6-foot-2 Horton was a fifth-round pick from Colorado State and has caught passes for 113 yards but has three touchdown receptions. Horton is also Seattle’s punt returner, averaging 14.9 yards per return, and he has returned one for a touchdown.
Of course, Washington’s primary goal will be to slow down Smith-Njigba, the NFL’s leading receiver.
