The Jacksonville Jaguars were named a team fit for a very familiar face on defense at the NFL trade deadline by NFL.com.
Kevin Patra recently paired 11 potential trade candidates with new teams. When it came to the Jaguars, Patra paired current Cardinals‘ defensive tackle Calais Campbell with Jacksonville.

“It would be apropos for Campbell to mirror his last exit from the desert, moving to the Jacksonville wetlands,” Patra wrote. “The Jaguars could use pass-rush depth. Adding Campbell to a front of Josh Hines-Allen, Travon Walker and Arik Armstead would immediately improve a physical defense.”
Campbell played with the Jaguars from 2017 through 2019 and had arguably the best season of his career in 2017, when he was named a first-team All-Pro and was second in the Defensive Player of the Year voting.
This season, at 39 years old, Campbell continues to provide a strong interior presence. He’s logged 17 pressures, three sacks, and remains stout against the run.
The interior defensive line in particular remains a need for the Jaguars, who could use more pass rush juice from this unit moving forward.

“We need it,” Liam Coen said of the defensive tackles. “We’ve looked at how do we help them on early downs, create more of an edge, and get some favorable match ups? We’ve looked at in the known passing situations, where are we putting these guys and how can we put them in better positions to be successful and get more ops on the quarterback?”
