Packers’ Micah Parsons on being NFC Defensive Player of the Month

Green Bay Packers defensive end Micah Parsons talks about his play and his recent honor of NFC Defensive Player of the Month.

After playing four of their past five games on the road, the Green Bay Packers will be back at home, where they’ll face the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, Nov. 2 at Lambeau Field.

Factoring in the bye week, too, this is just the Packers’ second home game in the past seven weeks.

The Packers (5-1-1) are coming off a rousing 35-25 come-from-behind victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in a “Sunday Night Football” showdown on Oct. 26 in which Jordan Love got the better of his former mentor, Aaron Rodgers. Love’s 360-yard, three-touchdown performance earned him NFC offensive player of the week honors.

Love’s showing also drew the praise from Rodgers’ mentor in Green Bay: Brett Favre.

Another Packers player also earned accolades this week as Micah Parsons was named the NFC defensive player of the month for October. Parsons had four sacks, six quarterback hits and five tackles for loss over three victories against Cincinnati, Arizona and Pittsburgh during the month.

The Panthers enter at 4-4 but they’re coming off a game in which they were keelhauled by the Buffalo Bills, 40-9. The good news for Carolina, though, is that quarterback Bryce Young is expected to be back in the starting lineup after missing last week’s game with an ankle injury.

Packers vs Panthers predictions, odds

Pete Dougherty: The Packers look like they’re at least starting to figure things out, so the guess here is they’ll pull away near the end. Packers 27, Panthers 17

Tom Silverstein: he Packers are either going to destroy the Panthers or they will take care of business in their typical non-impressive way and shuffle on to their big showdown with the Philadelphia Eagles. Here’s a vote for the latter. Packers 30, Panthers 20

Ryan Wood: It’s only October, and any win is enough, but they’re almost two-touchdown favorites. I think they should cover the spread in an easy win, but I’ve been wrong before this season. Let’s see if I’m wrong again. Packers 30, Panthers 13

Dominique Yates: The Packers will need to jump out fast and use the energy from the home crowd to pick up the win. I could be wrong, but I’m not buying a trap game. Packers 31, Panthers 21
