PackersNews reporters discuss Packers’ upset loss to Carolina Panthers

Pete Dougherty joins Dominique Yates to recap the Green Bay Packers’ stunning loss to the Carolina Panthers.

When the Packers are listed as heavy favorites, it appears to be a good idea to bet against them in 2025.

The Carolina Panthers are the latest lesser opponent to give the Packers absolute fits this season. Green Bay’s offense managed just 13 points against a Panthers team that had given up an average of over 25 points a game on the road and surrendered 40 points to Buffalo at home Oct. 26.

A week later, they pulled off a surprising 16-13 upset in Green Bay with a 49-yard winning field goal. Their only victory in a visiting uniform coming into the game was a 13-6 decision over the 1-7 New York Jets.

The Packers probably want to burn those 1923 throwbacks they wore. One week aftfer looking like a possible Super Bowl contender, their play was sometimes as ugly as those retro replicas. Green Bay has also struggled against the 2-6 Cleveland Browns and the 2-5 Arizona Cardinals. Don’t forget a 40-40 tie against the 3-4-1 Dallas Cowboys.

However, all three of those games were at least away from Lambeau Field and despite playing inconsistent at best in those matchups, the Packers were only defeated once,.

But another uneven effort caught up with them at home against the Panthers, who were plus-608 on the money line and 13.5-point underdogs.

Opposing offensive coordinators will be watching the film closely as the Panthers ran for 163 yards and averaged nearly five yards a carry. The Packers defense didn’t allow many points, but the Panthers were able to keep the ball for long stretches, especially in the first half.

While Packers fans on social media were quite unhappy with the result, extensive trolling by other NFL posters living in the what have you done for me today universe was also abundant:

Here’s a sample:

And at least one Packers fan has already turned the page.

#Packers could play *anyone* right now, and my confidence would be about the same.

Kicking the crap out of the Eagles next week right after losing to the #Panthers would be so on-brand.
