Should these players stay or be dealt before the deadline?
USA TODAY Sports’ Joe Rivera and Chirs Bumbaca break down which players might be traded before the 2025 NFL trade deadline on November 4th.
NFL teams have one last shot to improve their teams in a significant way in the middle of the season, but only if they make a move in the next 24 to 30 hours.
The NFL’s trade deadline approaches as the 2025 regular season passes its midway point in Week 9. In recent years, the midseason cutoff has prompted a dozen or so moves from contenders each season as they try to bolster their rosters before the home stretch.
In the days ahead of this year’s deadline, there have already been some significant trades. On Nov. 3, the Philadelphia Eagles sent a third-round pick to the Miami Dolphins for edge rusher Jaelan Phillips.
That move happened less than a week after Philadelphia traded for New York Jets cornerback Michael Carter II.
More trades are expected in the final day and a half before the NFL’s afternoon trade deadline on Nov. 4.
Here’s what to know about this year’s cutoff:
When is the 2025 NFL trade deadline?Date: November 4Time: 4 p.m. ET
For the second straight year, the NFL trade deadline will take place after Week 9 of the NFL season.
Prior to 2012, the NFL trade deadline took place after Week 6. A rule change 13 years ago pushed that date back two weeks to the Tuesday after Week 8. Last year, NFL teams voted to push the deadline back one more week – to the Tuesday after Week 9.
