The Miami Dolphins are receiving interest for safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and are open to trading the veteran, according to Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz.
Fitzpatrick, 28, was acquired by the Dolphins at the end of June as part of the trade that sent cornerback Jalen Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith to the Pittsburgh Steelers. It reunited Miami with its 2018 first-round pick, who was traded to the Steelers during his second season with the Dolphins.

An abrupt end to the reunion after only nine games would make sense, though.
Near the end of July, about a month after the trade brought him back to Miami, Fitzpatrick agreed to a reworked deal with the team that has him due to count $18.8 million against the Dolphins’ salary cap next season.
By trading Fitzpatrick, the Dolphins could recoup some of that cap space and receive draft capital in exchange for a player who would’ve been ineligible to ever net them a compensatory pick due to his contract being set to automatically void in February 2027.
The Dolphins have a few options at the safety position on the roster after adding relatively cheap veterans Ifeatu Melifonwu and Ashtyn Davis in free agency. Fifth-round pick Dante Trader Jr. has also started to shine in his time on the field and moving Fitzpatrick could allow the rookie to get more time on the field.

Possible landing spots for Fitzpatrick include the Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions, two teams with several injuries at the safety position.
