In his first game back from an ankle injury that forced him to miss a game and a half, Puka Nacua got banged up again on Sunday. The Los Angeles Rams receiver landed awkwardly on his chest during a rushing attempt in the second half, causing him to exit and head to the locker room.
He didn’t return to the game but still finished with seven catches for 95 yards and a touchdown. Nacua reminded everyone how good he is after a brief absence, and the hope is he’ll be available again on Sunday when the Rams visit the 49ers.
Sean McVay shared an update on Nacua Monday by saying he was scheduled to have a scan for his rib injury. McVay feels “optimistic” about his status moving forward, reiterating the positive outlook he shared after Sunday’s game.
Tutu Atwell is already on injured reserve so he’ll miss at least another three games. The Rams can’t afford to lose Nacua again, especially with games against the 49ers, Seahawks and Buccaneers coming up in the next three weeks.
Thankfully, it sounds like his rib injury is minor and he could’ve gone back in the game if the Rams needed him.
