Here are a handful of snap count observations from the Jaguars’ Week 9 win over the Raiders.
As we continue to take a look back at the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Week 9 performance against the Las Vegas Raiders, let’s highlight some noteworthy snap count figures.
For the most part, when it comes to playing time, there aren’t many huge surprises, but each week, even at the halfway point in the season, there are a few things we can glean.
With help from PFF, here are a few quick notes from the Jaguars‘ snap count totals from Week 9.
Cole Van Lanen’s playing time
The Jaguars are short-handed at tight end, with only two healthy players on the 53-man roster. So in a game where Jacksonville leaned in to the run game, Van Laned played 18 snaps lined up as the in-line tight end, according to PFF.
Austin Trammell and Tim Jones playing time
Also short-handed at wide receiver, Trammell and Jones would play a combined 37 snaps in this game. Jones had one reception for 15 yards.
Playing time at cornerback
Montaric Brown and Greg Newsome handled the outside snaps, while Jarrian Jones took over at the nickel with Jourdan Lewis sidelined.
The running backs and tight ends
Hunter Long was the clear-cut TE2 in this game, laying 53 snaps to Johnny Mundt’s 27. The RB2 role continues to be more of a shared role with LeQuint Allen playing 22 snaps and Bhayshul Tuten playing 20. The opponent and in-game situations dictate what that snap count distribution looks like on a weekly basis.
A full day for Parker Washington
Of the Jaguars’ 80 offensive snaps, Washington was on the field for 70 of them — the most on the team by a non-offensive lineman. And with those snaps, Washington caught eight passes for 90 yards.
