With the 2025 NFL trade deadline now hours away, 49ers fans know exactly what they want their team to do.
NBC Sports Bay Area asked the Faithful which position San Francisco should target before 1 p.m. PT on Tuesday, and they answered with a resounding consensus.
A whopping 71.7 percent of 49ers fans understandably would like the team to trade fot a defensive lineman after injuries have decimated the group so far during the 2025 NFL season.
Star edge rusher Nick Bosa went down with a season-ending ACL tear earlier in the year, and now rookie defensive end Mykel Williams, San Francisco’s 2025 first-round draft pick, is out for the rest of the campaign with the same injury.
That’s not to mention the smaller-scale injuries that have kept key contributors like Bryce Huff and Yetur Gross-Matos sidelined for weeks at a time, all of which have made a significant impact on San Francisco’s defense.
The 49ers recently have brought in some reinforcements at defensive end, acquiring Keion White in a trade with the New England Patriots last week and signing Clelin Ferrell to their practice squad. But they likely will need to make a big splash at the deadline if they want to keep their NFL playoff hopes alive.
Bengals star Trey Hendrickson reportedly has been made available by Cincinnati — but at a steep price. Acquiring a player of his caliber and locking him up long term, however, would help the 49ers this season and beyond.
It’s clear fans in the Bay have their wish list set. And in less than 24 hours, they’ll see if their hopes pan out.
