Gannon likes where the offense is and Murray will continue to work on recovering from his foot injury.

Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon, after saying nothing had changed about the team’s quarterback situation, made an announcement at his media availability on Monday. He announced that Jacoby Brissett would start at quarterback in Week 10 on the road against the Seattle Seahawks.

“I do like what the offense is doing right now,” Gannon said. “We’ve operated well, and we’ll go from there.”

He said that Murray, who has been out the last three games with a mid-foot sprain, “will keep working on his health bucket.”

Gannon said he made the announcement early in the week for “the clarity that it provides in game planning for our team.”

“I think that’s important and (we’ll) go from there,” he said.

This decision sounded like it was all basically related to Murray’s health. With uncertainty that Murray would even be healthy enough to play, it makes sense to make sure Murray is 100% healthy.

However, in an interview with Arizona Sports 98.7 FM, Gannon revealed that the move to Brissett would have happened even with a healthy Murray.

“Yeah, I mean it’s a hypothetical to me but yeah I like where we’re at right now with the offense moving forward,” he said.

Brissett has gone 1-2 in three starts so far. He has completed 65.7% of his passes for 860 yards, six touchdowns and one interception. They have averaged 25.7 points as a team with him playing.

However, we will see if he can hold up. He has been sacked 13 times and hit 35 times in those three starts.
