Bengals postgame wrap after loss to Chicago Bears
Enquirer beat reporter Kelsey Conway on the Bengals’ 47-42 loss to the Chicago Bears on Nov. 2.
The Cincinnati Bengals sit at 3-6 on the season and are in their bye week as the NFL trade deadline is at 4 p.m. today.
The Bengals started the day off by trading linebacker Logan Wilson to the Dallas Cowboys for a seventh round pick in the 2026 NFL draft. Wilson has two years remaining on his contract, but had lost his starting job this season and had requested a trade.
All-Pro defensive end Trey Hendrickson has been rumored to be available and the Bengals want a first round pick, according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini.
Defensive tackle Mckinnley Jackson requested to be traded last week. Jackson was inactive for the Bengals’ Week 8 loss to the New York Jets and the team’s Week 7 win against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Jackson had one tackle in a loss to the Detroit Lions, the only game in which he’s played this season.

Bengals stay put at NFL trade deadline
The Bengals traded linebacker Logan Wilson to the Cowboys Tuesday morning, but made no other moves before the NFL trade deadline at 4 p.m. on Nov. 4. Here’s Kelsey Conway’s analysis of the trade deadline for the Bengals.
The Colts move up to No. 11 in the NFL power rankings after trading for Sauce Gardner from the Jets. Check out what USA TODAY’s Nate Davis had to say.
Well, it’s complicated when you break down all the things involved in the trade. USA TODAY’s Nate Davis explains how Sauce Gardner is both a winner and loser in this trade. Read the rest here.
The Dallas Cowboys are trading for Pro Bowl defensive tackle Quinnen Williams.
The Cowboys are sending the New York Jets a 2026 second-round pick and a 2027 first-round pick along with defensive tackle Mazi Smith for Williams.
The Bengals come in at No. 22 in the USA TODAY NFL Power Rankings this week and the Chicago Bears are No. 18 after their wild Week 9 game.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport says the Jets are trading All-Pro cornerback Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner to the Colts. Rapoport says the Colts are giving up two first first-round picks. It’s the first blockbuster trade ahead of the day ahead of the 4 p.m. NFL trade deadline.
Enquirer Bengals beat reporter Kelsey Conway says the team should trade Hendrickson before the deadline.
“A major overhaul on defense is needed this offseason, and it’s why the Bengals should trade Pro Bowl edge rusher Trey Hendrickson by the NFL’s deadline on Nov. 4 at 4 p.m. After the season, Hendrickson becomes an unrestricted free agent, but the Bengals have the option to use the franchise tag on him,” Conway wrote.

The Jaguars acquired wide receiver Jakobi Myers from the Raiders for fourth and sixth-round draft picks in the 2026 NFL draft, according to multiple reports. Myers had previously requested a trade.
ESPN’s Seth Walder gave the Bengals a B+ and Cowboys a B- for the trade. Here’s the first part of what he said about the trade: “There is something a little amusing about the Cowboys, desperate for help on defense, turning to one of the only teams with a worse defense than their own and trading for a linebacker that team benched. Yet that’s the situation. A day after Jerry Jones said he’d made a trade and less than 12 hours after the Cowboys were upset by the Cardinals on “Monday Night Football,” Dallas acquired Wilson from the Bengals in exchange for a seventh-round pick.”
USA TODAY’s Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz had this to say about the trade: “Tuesday’s swap between the Cincinnati Bengals and Dallas Cowboys enacted change for the league’s two worst defenses in points allowed.
But did either unit really shift its outlook?
Neither the Cowboys nor the Bengals ended up with a high mark in our trade grades. Read here for the full explanation.”
Multiple reports around the NFL have said the Bengals have been talking with other franchises about a possible trade for the All-Pro defensive end. The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported the Bengals are asking for a first-round pick in the 2026 NFL draft in exchange for Hendrickson. Hendrickson is in the final year of a reworked contract, but the Bengals will still have the option to apply the franchise tag to the four-time Pro Bowler in the offseason.
