The Pittsburgh Steelers might not have traded for any players at the NFL deadline — but they did make a few practice squad moves, bringing back a familiar face in the process.
On Tuesday, the Steelers announced the practice squad releases of DE K.J. Henry and WR John Rhys Plumlee in order to sign DB Daequan Hardy and their former 2022 seventh-rounder LB Mark Robinson, who was waived back in August as part of final roster cuts.
Selected by the Bills with the 219th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, Hardy was released ahead of his rookie season but signed to Buffalo’s practice squad. While he’s yet to make his NFL debut, Hardy stood out as a solid defensive back and punt returner during his collegiate career at Penn State — offering Pittsburgh some special teams value off the practice squad.
Robinson’s return to the Steelers is a welcomed one, as he emerged quickly as a solid depth option at linebacker while also finding success as a solid special teams contributor.
