Who else gets an A?
Who else wins the day?
Is Daniel Jones, because after the Colts traded two first round picks to the New York Jets for Sauce Gardner, that told me all I needed to know that the Colts are planning on signing Daniel Jones for the next foreseeable future, that Daniel Jones with the Colts trading away two first rounders.
That’s not something that you do if you are going to be in the quarterback market either the next season or the season following that.
So what Daniel Jones essentially got yesterday was an extension from the Indianapolis Colts.
What Daniel Jones got yesterday is, without actually signing a deal, a legitimate starting quarterback deal, I would assume that Daniel Jones is going to get like a Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold-esque kind of contract with the Indianapolis Colts.

But man, I mean the Colts, I’ll give Chris Ballard credit trading two first rounders for a corner.
Is not something that I would do.
You saw my tweet yesterday.
Is any cornerback in the NFL worth two first round picks?
I just don’t value cornerbacks enough.
I think that your best uh pass defense is a pass rush.
Get after the quarterback, and that makes the lives of your cornerback significantly easier.
I think there’s one cornerback maybe that I would even think about trading two first rounders for, and that’s Pat Sir Tan, but Pat Sirtan absolutely is not going to be on the trade market.
I’ll give Chris Ballard credit though.

They feel like they’re in a Super Bowl window.
We talked yesterday about legitimate Super Bowl contenders.
The Colts were on both of our lists.
The one glaring hole for the Indianapolis Colts was the cornerback position.
So Chris Ballard didn’t just go out and get any corner.
He got the corner.
He got, didn’t get any guy.
He got the guy, and he said, you know what, F them picks, and I’m gonna go out and I’m gonna, I’m gonna upgrade my team to the absolute best of my ability and get the best player on the market at that position.
For Chris Ballard’s sake, I hope it comes in the form of an AFC championship game or a Super Bowl, because you don’t trade two first round picks for a corner and fall short of the Super Bowl and everyone’s just chill with it.
But I’ll give Chris Ballard credit because he took a massive swing and a massive risk, and I’d rather my GM take a swing and a risk than do nothing at all.
