With the 20th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos selected Texas Longhorns cornerback Jahdae Barron. He’ll likely slide into the Broncos’ starting nickel cornerback role and be a starter right away.

It’ll be a tough transition to the NFL for Barron, but a former Broncos player has extended an offer to aid Barron at the NFL level. On the DNVR Sports Broncos Podcast, former Broncos cornerback Chris Harris Jr. offered to help Barron transition to the NFL.

“Different things that you have to understand in coverages and movements that I can definitely help him on in what he’s going to have to do in VJ’s (Vance Joseph’s) system.”

Harris Jr. is a 12-year veteran with 145 starts in his career. He played with Denver from 2011 to 2019, where he was named to four Pro Bowls, two second-team All-Pros, and a first-team All-Pro in 2016. He also helped the Broncos win the Super Bowl in 2015.

Few cornerbacks in Broncos history would be as well-equipped to help Barron as Harris Jr. Barron will start in the slot for Denver, where Harris started the majority of his time with the Broncos. According to Pro Football Focus, Harris Jr. played 5,329 snaps in the slot, while 3,936 snaps at outside cornerback.

Barron was used similarly at Texas, though in 2024, he saw a lot of time at outside cornerback. With Patrick Surtain II and Riley Moss starting outside for the Broncos, Barron will slide inside and give the Broncos one of the best cornerback rooms in the NFL.

The offer from Harris Jr. is one that Barron would do well to take. Having a chance to learn from one of the NFL’s best cornerbacks, especially one who played a similar style to Barron, would be a great opportunity for the rookie.

The Broncos’ defense in 2025 is shaping up to be one of the best in the NFL, and if Harris Jr. can help Barron transition to the NFL, the Broncos’ defense would have a chance to be the best in the league.
