The once-bad news on Asante Samuel Jr. potentially signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers seems to have been rectified — as the Steel City is now on the star cornerback’s long list of team visits over the next few weeks.

According to Ian Rapoport on Wednesday, Samuel will visit with the originally reported teams of the Panthers (Wednesday), Packers (Thursday), and Vikings (Friday) — which now includes three new teams next week: the 49ers (Monday), Bears (Tuesday), and, last but not least, the Steelers (Wednesday).

Selected by the Chargers with the 47th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Samuel had an up-and-down career with Los Angeles, with his best season coming in 2023 — but he didn’t sign with an NFL team this offseason due to a spinal fusion surgery he had in April.

Now cleared for football activity, hopefully the Steelers can woo Samuel into choosing Pittsburgh as his 2025 landing spot — giving the secondary a much-needed boost after the recent cornerback struggles this season.
