One of the hottest free-agent cornerbacks — the now-healthy Asante Samuel Jr. — currently has three visits scheduled with NFL teams around the league, but the Pittsburgh Steelers aren’t one of them, at least for the time being.

Update: Asante Samuel Jr. is reportedly set to visit with the Pittsburgh Steelers next week. Fans can learn more about the new report here.

Despite excitement over a potential Samuel signing in Pittsburgh, NFL Network’s Jordan Schultz reported that Samuel is first visiting with the Carolina Panthers, followed by the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings — leaving the cornerback-needy Steelers off the list.

Selected by the Chargers with the 47th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Samuel had an up-and-down career with Los Angeles, with his best season coming in 2023 — when he recorded two interceptions and a career-high 13 passes defended.

Leaving fans disappointed at the NFL trade deadline, Samuel was one of our three free agents options the Steelers should target as the 2025 season continues to heat up.
