Detroit Lions rookie lineman Miles Frazier has started his 21-day practice window — a sign that he could soon be moved off the physically unable to perform list.Coach Dan Campbell stated the rookie needs practice reps and compared him to a “baby fawn.”Campbell is optimistic Frazier could develop similarly to Christian Mahogany, who also had a delayed start to his own rookie season.

Miles Frazier did not participate in organized team activities this past spring. He missed all of training camp during the summer. He has remained on the physically unable to perform list since the start of the season.

But the Detroit Lions rookie interior offensive lineman, who has been dealing with a knee injury suffered in May, is finally back on the field after the organization decided to open his 21-day return-to-play window Wednesday, Nov. 5.

“We’re starting Miles’ clock today,” coach Dan Campbell said.

The news comes days after the team’s starting left guard, Christian Mahogany, broke a bone in his left leg during a 27-24 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

While the timing of Frazier’s return is fortuitous given what happened to Mahogany, Campbell was quick to remind reporters that the rookie hasn’t played much football since the Lions selected him in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft in April.

Campbell went so far as to liken Frazier, who logged more than 3,000 snaps at LSU, to a “baby fawn.”

“We don’t know a lot about him yet at the NFL level,” Campbell said. “He just needs reps.”

But Campbell is optimistic Frazier could follow the same course that Mahogany did last year, when mononucleosis sidelined him throughout the duration of training camp to delay his NFL debut until Week 12 in late November.

“It took a while, but once we got him, he quickly just grew with practice,” Campbell said of Mahogany.

While Frazier could soon join the fold, it appears backup tackle Giovanni Manu, who has been on injured reserve since hurting his knee in early October, won’t be back in the near term. Campbell said he didn’t foresee the practice window for Manu opening “within the next week or two.

“Gio is still a few weeks out. … He will be ready at some point here, I think,” Campbell said.
