Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Kendrick Green got caught in the crosshairs of Ben Roethlisberger while he was making a joke about how the team supported Aaron Rodgers in his one year versus him in 2021.
Green, now a backup offensive lineman for the Buffalo Bills, was drafted by the Steelers in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft to play center despite playing guard for his entire collegiate career.
The transition for Green was nothing short of rocky. He struggled in his first season, even getting benched by the end of it. In the past, Roethlisberger has openly complained about the pick of Green, who was plugged into the starting center role without any competition after Maurkice Pouncey retired that offseason.
“I still think it’s funny, because they’re giving Aaron DK [Metcalf] and all these things, and I got a center that never played center before in my last year,” Roethlisberger said on the ‘Footbahlin’ podcast. “It’s amazing.”
Green saw the comments on X and responded in such, much like he has to other comments that Roethlisberger has made over the years.
“Damn talk about catching strays jeez Louise lol,” Green wrote.
The Steelers’ 2021 third-round pick out of Illinois, the Houston Texans moved him back to left guard in hopes of getting more out of him than the Steelers were able to in his first two seasons. Pittsburgh traded Green in August of 2023, pulling the plug on what they believed was a failed draft pick after a disappointing first two seasons.
