Much of the 2025 NFL Draft process was spent assessing where Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders would end up.
Ward and Sanders were viewed as two of the consensus top prospects in the draft. It eventually became clear the Tennessee Titans were planning to take Ward with the No. 1 overall pick, and there was plenty of speculation about Sanders being a first-round pick.
Ultimately, Sanders wasn’t selected in the first round, but many assumed he wouldn’t last long on Day 2. Instead, he endured a prolonged draft slide and wasn’t chosen until Day 3, when the Cleveland Browns spent a fifth-round pick (No. 144 overall) on the Colorado product.
Sanders’ fall flummoxed many fans, and they are now eager to see what the eighth-place finisher in the 2024 Heisman Trophy voting can do professionally. Meanwhile, Ward will look to quickly affirm Tennessee’s decision to make him the No. 1 selection.

When is Cam Ward facing Shedeur Sanders?
The Browns and Titans are set to square off during the 2025 NFL season. The Browns will host the game at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland.
Of course, it’s important to note that while Sanders and Ward’s teams are set to face one another, there’s no guarantee the two rookies will start the game. Sanders will have to compete for a starting job in Cleveland and face competition from a quarterback room that includes Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and third-round rookie Dillon Gabriel.
Ward has a much clearer path to the starting job in Tennessee, as he is battling Will Levis, Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle for playing time.
